The SEO community has been talking about this for quite some time and I’ve written several updates about the signs from Google that mobile web was set to be a big part of the future of search engine results pages (SERPs). Well, Google have finally announced that mobile friendliness – or lack of – will become a ranking factor from 21 April 2015.
Google has also said that this change in its ranking algorithm will have a ‘significant impact’, so we all know that this is not something to ignore!
From 21 April, people searching the web will get results that best suit the device they are using. With over 50% of all web pages being served on mobile devices, this latest announcement from Google will be the final nail in the coffin for non-mobile friendly websites. Now, this is a good thing because there really is nothing worse than trying to use a non-mobile friendly website on your phone or tablet!
So what does this mean for you? Well, if you don’t have a mobile friendly website then you need to act now! In less than two months it’s going to cause you a huge problem when Google stops showing it in the SERP’s on mobile devices.
